Call for large-scale works to exhibit at Hanover Insurance Group in Worcester, Massachusetts. $700.00 – 800.00 stipend per sculpture. Depending on size and nature up to eight sculptures will be selected.

Exhibition period: June 3 – May 31, 2020
Deadline for submission: April 22, 2019

The exhibit is designed to enhance and activate the cultural landscape of an institution’s 100 acres campus for its two thousand employees and visitors as well as provide an opportunity for artists to showcase their work.

ELIGIBILITY: 18 Years and older sculptor that create for outdoor installations.

SITE DESCRIPTION: The cultural landscape of the property is defined by a medium in height elongated institutional classical building with a sweeping manicured, landscaped front. The entire site consists of approximately 100 acres with human - scale buildings surrounded by lots of open space, a pond with a sitting area, walking trails, low-rise parking garage and small open-air parking areas, and various size beds. The sculptures will be located in beds abutting the main building as well as other on-site locations. At this time, the option to suspend from trees is not available.

STIPEND: There is a $700.00 - $800.00 stipend per sculpture. Artists are responsible for transporting, installing, and removing their work with limited volunteer assistance. Heavy-duty machinery for unloading and set up will be available on a limited scheduled basis. Once installed sculptures are to remain throughout the exhibition period.

SELECTION AND INSTALLATION: Selection will be based on quality, visual design, and experience of place in relationship to the architecture and landscape. Artists are encouraged to submit work with strong color. However, pieces will not be judged solely on the basis of color. The organization’s employees will select with input from Gloria D. Hall, the call administrator. The organizers reserve the right to reject installation if any work deviates significantly from the accepted proposals or pose safety risk.

INSURANCE AND SECURITY: While the site has twenty-four hour surveillance, Gloria D. Hall, AIPW, nor The Hanover Insurance Group (Exhibitor) shall be responsible for any damages caused by the art displayed by the Artists. Artists shall hold the Insurance Group, AIPW, and the call administrator harmless from any and all claims, demands, liabilities or costs and expenses arising from damage caused to or by 3 the art displayed by the Artists. It is recommended that artist have their own liability insurance.

Entry Specifications
♦ Artist or artist collaboration may submit proposals for site-specific sculptures or high-resolution images of up to two sculptures. Applicants must use the application form below for submission(s) and include highresolution images of prior work.
♦ Due Date: All applications and materials must be received by April 22, 2019.
Date of work: Sculptures must have been produced within the last four years.
Ownership: All work must be the property of the artist.
Size: Sculptures should be large scale, and have the ability to be well anchored to a steel platform or in the ground.
Lifting equipment: Notice of equipment need is to be provided in the agreement to display.
Media: All media should be safe for the viewer, suitable for outdoor installation and appropriate for extended outdoor exhibition and exposure to weather
No substitutions: Sculptures accepted cannot be substituted with other work without first contacting the public art administrator, Gloria D. Hall.
Safety: Sharp and pointed pieces of the sculptures should be avoided below 4 feet to prevent injury to viewers.
♦ Artists are encouraged to submit pieces with strong color or bright metal so as to stand out.

COPYRIGHT: Artist retains his or her copyright interests in the artwork for all purposed, with the following exception: (a) the right of the presenter and its agent to reproduce images of the artwork for marketing and reports.

PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY: For all works accepted we will need high-resolution images to use in promotions and marketing.

AGREEMENT: By submitting a proposal the artist agrees to the terms and conditions as stated herein.

    2. 72-300 dpi image resolution

    3. Maximum file size per image – 1 MB

    4. List each image on the accompanying application form

  4. Artist statement including brief description of no more than one page if applicable with a sketch.
