Call for Sculptures: Art in the Heart of Main South

Artist stipend: $1,500.00

"Art in the Heart of Main South" brings sculptures to Clark University and University Park. There are four sites at Clark University and three in University Park. Clark University's 72-acre, tree-filled campus is located at 950 Main Street, Worcester, MA. University Park, located adjacent to the campus, is 14.3 acre public park with the heart shaped Crystal Pond and a small playground.

Recognizing 19th Century African American Abolitionists, Entrepreneurs and Family

Portraits Installed, Great Hall Gallery, Mechanics Hall February, 2024

Brenda Zlamany of Brooklyn, NY commissioned to paint Worcester business owners and abolitionists William Brown and Martha Ann Tulip Lewis (Brown); Manu Saluja of Long Island, NY commissioned to depict former slave, abolitionist, and women’s rights activist Sojourner Truth; and Imo Nse Imeh of Holyoke, MA has been commissioned to depict former slave and abolitionist Frederick Douglass.

Call for indoor mural tribute that expresses the essence of Linda Cavioli twenty-nine year career at YWCA of Central Massachusetts. When Linda Cavioli became the Executive Director in 1992, the YWCA had a mission, purpose and one imperative, “The Association will thrust its collective power toward the elimination of racism wherever it exists and by any means necessary”. It was in 2010 that the one imperative was integrated into the current mission for this now 135 years old organization is/ became, “YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all”.

The Elm Park exhibit space is twenty acres bound by Park Avenue, Highland, Russell and Elm Street. The Park is listed in the National Register of Historic Places as one of the earliest public parks in the United States. Its cultural landscape features include Frederick Olmsted Firm designed and inspired elements; meandering paths; three interconnected Mere Ponds; two arched bridges; a boathouse; and playground.
